Series Descriptions
WANKABEATS FESTIVAL
I had the great opportunity to work as a photographer for Wankabeats festival in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I could capture with my lens very recognized latin american bands such as Rawayana, Amigos Invisibles, Esteman and Bandalos Chinos.
BARRIO CUBA
I was taken by my photographer friend and teacher Mauricio to an alley inside Barrio Cuba, this is underprivileged and dangerous zone in Guayaquil's south. He made me practice with just one lens, 18-55mm, the objective of this was to force me to move, walk, get on my knees or anything I needed according to my photographic necessities.
After this visit I decided to start a photography project in this place, which goal is to get more people involved in volunteering. It’s a creative way to introduce the people from Barrio Cuba to others, so that there’s a better understanding and a realization that the people I’ve met there are real, with heartbreaking daily struggles. At the moment I’m one of the few people who volunteer at Barrio Cuba, but, if I can manage to raise awareness of the neighborhood and enlist a bigger group of people to join me, then I am certain that together, we could improve their way of living.
CABEZA EN 17
In this series I treated a very personal topic, about a very unstable moment in my life, where I did not want anything anymore. Sometimes it is necessary that life hits you so that you enter into reason. One day on the beach with my friends, I accidentally got into a whirlpool and was the only one who could not return. It seemed so ironic to me that I was fighting for my life after being so listless for so long. After wallowing so much in the waves and so long fighting not to drown, I thought I would not be able to return and just stop trying. After a long time they managed to get me out with a surfboard and my cousin was the one who, although it sounds very cheesy, saved my life. After all this I left the sea with more desire to live than ever and everything that had me feeling bad before, began to seem so irrelevant compared to everything that lies ahead. As strong as it may be, sometimes it is necessary to have experiences like this so that one understands that life is not something that is taken for granted, but that one lives better when we change our way of seeing it.In this series I treated a very personal topic, about a very unstable moment in my life, where I did not want anything anymore. RIDHI
An Extended portraiture of my college friend Ridhi.
MH
I don't know why, I feel a lot of curiosity for the human mind itself. I think its extraordinary and very interesting to observe it in all its different stages. This is a series I am still working on and don’t feel any rush to finish, before doing each picture I studied about each mental condition I am representing, as I am taking all of the pictures on different places and times, I am trying to be cohesive with tones in the post production. Specially with the blue and greens.
LUGARES
I called this series “lugares” which mean places in spanish, my first language. I think traveling is very important, but not necessarily to the other side of the globe, places shouldn’t be taken for granted just because you are used to them. In this series I am collecting my favorite pictures of the places I visit, for the moment I have only added some images I tool back home in places I visited inside Ecuador.
URBAN SAVANNAH
Since I moved to Savannah, I started this series as a photo documentary of the city. I try to have my camera most of the time as I never now what Im going to find around the city, It’s a world very different from mine and I find very interesting people and and scenarios.
SAVANNAH PRIDE
Scad Focus photo club offered me the opportunity to collaborate with Savannah Pride LGBT event photography, It was an awesome experience.
MORAT
Morat is one of my favorite Latin American bands and currently one of the most popular at this time. I was very lucky that one of my mom’s friends worked in the organization of their concert in Guayaquil and gave me some extra tickets that she had. I was able to take pictures of the members of the band. This series is a collection of my favorite pictures from that night
