SCAD Style

Motion Branding and Event Graphics
Motion design by Doménica Basantes
Graphic design by Maria Luque

For SCAD Style, I was provided with a fully developed graphic branding package composed entirely of still designs. My role was to translate this visual system into motion while preserving its original essence and enhancing it through animation.

The design file itself was highly layered and intricate, built from vector based gradients and textured elements that created a glossy, almost plastic or glass like, multi layered look. Before animating, I spent time navigating and deconstructing the file to understand Maria’s design logic, how depth was achieved, and how the visual richness was constructed. That process informed how motion could support rather than overpower the design.

Using this understanding as a foundation, I developed a motion language that respected the original aesthetic while adding my own interpretation through pacing, transitions, and dimensional movement. The goal was to let the layers breathe, emphasize depth, and bring clarity and flow to a visually dense system.

I animated the full suite of event graphics, including opening and closing graphics for tribute reels, full screen informational graphics displaying the daily schedule, podium graphics, and supporting motion assets used throughout the event. These animations were delivered to the video editors for integration into the final tribute films and event programming.

SCAD Style is described as an exclusive design symposium where innovative leaders across industries share the progress of creative expression, challenging the limits of fashion, design, interiors, technology, and beyond. The motion work aimed to reflect that forward thinking spirit while maintaining visual cohesion across all event touchpoints.
